Polishing Water Treatment Systems

Mit Water designs and manufactures polishing water treatment systems based on mixed-bed ion exchange for final polishing of demineralised water to achieve ultrapure water quality. These systems are installed downstream of primary demineralisation processes such as reverse osmosis or twin-bed ion exchange to remove trace ionic contaminants.
Working Principle
A mixed-bed polisher contains a homogeneous mixture of strong acid cation and strong base anion resins within a single pressure vessel. As water passes through the mixed bed, the intimate contact between cation and anion resins removes residual ions through repeated ion exchange reactions. This configuration provides the highest deionised water quality achievable through ion exchange, with effluent resistivity reaching 18.2 MOhm-cm and silica levels below 0.02 mg/L.
System Features
Our polishing systems include a mixed-bed vessel, external regeneration system with resin transfer, conductivity and silica monitoring, and a PLC control panel. Systems can be configured with two vessels in lead-lag arrangement for continuous supply. All vessels and piping are constructed from corrosion-resistant materials suitable for high-purity water service.
Polishing water treatment systems are critical for industries demanding ultrapure water:
- Semiconductor and microelectronics rinse water
- Pharmaceutical water for injection (WFI) pre-treatment
- High-pressure boiler make-up water for power generation
- Laboratory analytical-grade water systems
- Chemical process water requiring very low conductivity
- Solar panel and flat-panel display manufacturing
