Membrane Filtration (MF/UF/NF)

membrane-filtration-mf-uf-nf

Mit Water supplies microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF) membrane systems for water recycling and reuse applications. These pressure-driven membrane processes provide a physical barrier to remove suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, viruses and dissolved organic matter, producing high-quality treated water suitable for a wide range of reuse purposes.

Working Principle

MF membranes with pore sizes of 0.1-10 microns remove suspended solids, bacteria and large colloids. UF membranes with pore sizes of 0.01-0.1 microns remove viruses, macromolecules and smaller colloids. NF membranes with pore sizes of 1-10 nanometres offer intermediate rejection between UF and RO, removing divalent ions and organic molecules above 200-400 Daltons.

System Features

Our membrane systems are built on skid frames with pre-piped membrane modules, feed and backwash pumps, clean-in-place system, instrumentation and PLC control. Membranes are available in hollow fibre, tubular or spiral-wound configurations. Automatic integrity testing and filtrate turbidity monitoring ensure consistent treated water quality.

Membrane filtration is the core technology for water recycling and reuse:

  • Municipal wastewater reclamation for industrial and irrigation reuse
  • Industrial wastewater recycling within manufacturing processes
  • RO pre-treatment for seawater and brackish water desalination
  • Cooling tower blowdown water recovery
  • Rainwater and stormwater treatment for non-potable reuse
  • Surface water treatment for drinking water production
  • Electronics industry ultrapure water pre-treatment
